This Cookie Policy applies to all visitors, users, subscribers, and prospective clients who access the website located at halvorial.com (the "Site"), operated by Halvorial Broadcasting (Pty) Ltd Pty Ltd, trading as Halvorial ("Halvorial", "the Company", "we", "us", or "our"). This Policy is effective from 2026 and governs the use of cookies and similar tracking technologies deployed on the Site in connection with Halvorial's television broadcasting and related digital media services.

1. Introduction and Legal Basis

1.1. This Policy is issued to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"), and should be read together with the Site's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. It explains what cookies and similar technologies are, which categories of such technologies Halvorial uses, the purposes for which they are used, and how a data subject may exercise choice and control over their use.

1.2. Where cookies involve the processing of personal information, such as an IP address or a unique device identifier, Halvorial processes that information in accordance with the lawful bases set out in section 11 of POPIA, including consent, the pursuit of Halvorial's legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site, and, in the case of strictly necessary cookies, the performance of the contract between Halvorial and the user for the delivery of the Site's functionality.

2.1. A cookie is a small text file placed on a user's device (computer, tablet, or mobile telephone) by a website when it is visited. 3.1.1. These cookies are essential for the Site to function and cannot be switched off in Halvorial's systems. They are typically set only in response to actions taken by the user which amount to a request for services, such as submitting the contact form referred to in clause 5 below, setting privacy preferences, logging into a restricted area of the Site, or maintaining the security and integrity of the Site's infrastructure. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under POPIA, as their use is grounded in the legitimate operation of the Site and, where applicable, the performance of a contract with the user.

3.1.2. Examples include cookies that maintain session state during a visit, cookies that record whether a cookie consent banner has been dismissed, and cookies used to protect the Site's contact form against automated abuse.

3.2 Analytics Cookies

3.2.1. Analytics cookies allow Halvorial to count visits and traffic sources so that it may measure and improve the performance of the Site, including which pages, broadcast schedules, or programme pages are most and least popular, and how visitors navigate the Site. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated and, insofar as reasonably possible, rendered anonymous or pseudonymous. 3.3.1. Marketing cookies may be set through the Site by Halvorial or its advertising partners to build a profile of a user's interests and to present relevant content and advertisements, including in relation to Halvorial's broadcasting schedules, promotional campaigns, and the email subscription service referred to in clause 5.2. 5.1. Independently of cookies, Halvorial collects personal information directly through the Site's contact form, whereby a user submits their name, email address, telephone number, and the content of their enquiry for the purpose of responding to that enquiry. This data collection is governed principally by the Privacy Policy rather than by this Cookie Policy, but the security cookies described in clause 3.1 may be used to protect the integrity of that form.

5.2. Halvorial further operates an email subscription service through which a user may provide their email address to receive updates regarding broadcasting schedules, programming, and related communications from Halvorial. Marketing cookies described in clause 3.3 may be used, subject to consent, to measure the effectiveness of communications sent to subscribers and to tailor content presented on the Site to subscribers' interests.

6. Consent and Management of Cookie Preferences

6.1. On first accessing the Site, a user is presented with a cookie consent banner permitting the user to accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or configure preferences by category as set out in clause 3. Strictly necessary cookies are excluded from this choice, as they cannot be disabled without impairing the basic functioning of the Site.

6.2.
